I’m currently using cygwin to sync files between my Linux dev environment and windows.
I will start by saying this, DO NOT BUY THE ZAGG INVISIBLE SHIELD FOR IPHONE! It is a complete waste of money!

Im not one to completely disown a company, however, this has to be the worst product you could ever put on your iphone. Here are just a couple of things that Zagg needs to seriously improve on before they ever consdier selling their invisible sheild to anyone!
Installation was the most frustrating experience I have gone though in a while! Now, I can understand that it was my first time and that it does require a bit of a delicate touch, however, should it really be that hard?
Decreased touch response on the screen. I brought this up with zagg support and they said “You’ll get use to the change in touch performance. It’s not hindered, just different.” What is that supposed to mean? Why would I want my touch performance to be different than if I had nothing on the screen at all? To their defense, i never did call customer support. But I was at this point fed up with the product and going to just live with it.
Now if those were the only problems with the product I think that I would be OK, but obviously they are not!
The cover becomes severly discolored! I own a white iphone and after only 2 months with the zagg “invisible” shield it had become anything BUT invisible! Take a look at the above picture after removing the back cover.
After about a week of failed attempts at getting my Creative X-FI sound card to work with ubuntu, I finally found a guide that got me through!
For everything to work properly, you will need to disable the asla drivers and download a new volume mixer, all of which are outlined in the documentation.
You will need to follow the documentation pretty close except for some situations where the version numbers on the downloads have been updated and you will need to change the commands accordingly. Specifically when obtaining the OSS source files. When the document was written they were using v4.1, when i downloaded it was v4.2. this will affect subsequent commands and will just have to be updated.
The last part was to get the volume controller working, which was done again by following the instructions and just downloading an updated version of the *.so file. After doing that I had to remove and re-add the volume mixer to the pannel.

Today I wanted to see just how easy it was to get ubuntu installed and running from a usb flash drive using instructions found over at pen drive linux. It was not only easy, it seemed too good to be true!
All I had to do was follow their few simple instructions, which was essentially to download their installer file and the ubuntu 8.10 iso and I was done. The only problem I ran into was that I didn’t have admin rights on the machine I was working on so I had to perform the final step at home, which was to make the usb drive bootable. For some reason without local admin access you can’t perform this action.
After restarting the machine I had to make sure that I selected my computers boot menu at the post screen and select the usb device to boot from. After that I was up and running on ubuntu in just a few minutes.
Boot time was rather slow, but I guess that is to be expected on a slow 8 gig flash drive I got from radio shack. Ive got an 8 gig cruzar flash drive, I have no idea on the stats but seems pretty slow.
The only other downfall was that the default casper-rw file is only 1 gig and its defiantly not enough space to run the ubuntu updates. The updates took quite a while to run, which was probably because it was over 140 days out of date. A lot of stuff happens to FLOSS in that time period.
I would definatly recomend this to anyone who has been curious about linux operating systems but doesnt want to reformat their whole system just to play with the OS. Happy nixing!
